When I was packing for the US, my toiletries were my last priority. Most of them were still half-empty/half-full, but I needed the space for something else in my luggage, so I left them all to my mom to finish.

Who travels with a complete set of regular-sized bathroom essentials anyway? As long as I pack some travel-friendly toiletries (those I got from the hotel we stayed at in Bangkok), I should be fine until I shop for my stash the following day.

Of all things I picked up that day, I took time in looking for items I'd use to cleanse my face. For reference, I have combination/oily skin. Thankfully, my acne days are over except for when I'm about to or currently have my period. I'm usually cautious in whatever I put on my face, especially cosmetic products, because my skin easily breaks out if it's not hypoallergenic and noncomedogenic

We passed by a Mother's Day sale at The Body Shop, and saw their Tea Tree Oil Skin Care line. I've read a lot of great things about tea tree oil, and the most common of which is acne treatment. With its natural antibacterial properties, I can see why it can be beneficial for acne-prone skin. In addition to this, tea tree oil is considered to be more gentle than salicylic acid and benzoyl peroxide in treating acne.

For this reason, I grabbed five items that best suit my needs.

Morning Essentials

Morning Essentials

Every morning upon waking up, I wash my face with the Tea Tree Skin Clearing Facial Wash. I like that it smells and feels minty, so it helps in making me look more awake in spite of having less than eight hours of sleep. I then apply Tea Tree Skin Clearing Toner, which aids in shrinking back pores since they open up when you wash your face, especially with warm water. I complete my morning routine with a sheer application of Tea Tree Skin Clearing Lotion. I love that it has a mattifying effect, making my face less greasy throughout the day.

Night Essentials

Night Essentials

Before bedtime, I wash and tone my face with the same products, but instead of the Tea Tree Skin Clearing Lotion, I use Tea Tree Blemish Fade Night Lotion, which claims to aid in lightening acne-related blemishes and dark spots. If, for whatever reason, my skin is breaking out or a zit decided to make an uninvited appearance on my face, I dab a drop of Tea Tree Oil on the affected areas at night. I noticed that after three days of consistently doing so, my pimples became less painful and tender, if not completely gone.

Roan and I share the same cleansing products because we have similar skin type. I don't know if you've even noticed, but the facial wash and toner are now half-empty/half-full. We started using these products in May, so I'm guessing these will last until October (approx. 6 months). I think this particular range is a great maintenance for those with combination/oily skin. If you're dealing with cystic acne, I highly recommend that you seek further assistance from your dermatologist, which may give you the best medication to treat any severe inflammation.

What's your current skin care routine? Would you recommend it to others with similar skin type as yours?
