In case you missed it, I turned 29 two weeks ago. Quite honestly, I don't feel like I'm just a year away from being in my 30s. Thanks to my Asian genes, I don't look my age either. I did a lot of thinking during the days leading up to my birthday. For one, I was already in kindergarten when my mother was 29.
Here I am, still trying to buy time from having a baby of our own. I'm just not emotionally, mentally, and physically ready to become a mom yet.

Apart from my 1st, 7th, 13th, and 18th birthdays, I usually just celebrate with family. Since this year's different, I asked Roan if we could celebrate it on our own. Our day started early; we had a FaceTime date with my family back home, and it made me miss them even more. Roan took me to one of the oldest churches in the world (more on that later) for thanksgiving, then we had breakfast at Snooze in Hillcrest.
We didn't have enough sleep the night before because we were watching season 5 of The Walking Dead on Netflix, so I asked Roan if we could go home for a while to take a nap. Three hours later, we were on our feet again, making our way to the mall. I did a little birthday shopping, then had dinner at our favorite Lazy Dog Restaurant & Bar. My birthday celebration was nothing fancy, but it was everything I wanted and more. Just being with Roan on my special day is enough to compensate for being away from family.
