Hello, February, and welcome new readers of SCATTERBRAIN! I gained a couple of new followers at the beginning of the new year, so I think it's just appropriate to introduce/re-introduce myself for the benefit of newcomers (and old ones alike) by putting together 15 [random] facts about me:
- I'm an expatriate from the Philippines. I have been living in San Diego, CA since April 2015.
- Roan is my husband of two years, and we've known each other since our sophomore year in high school. My mother was an English teacher in the same school we went to, and Roan had the notorious reputation back then, so to say that he had a hard time earning my parents' (mostly my mother's) trust is an understatement.
- I am the eldest of three children, one girl and two boys. Growing up with brothers was tough, but I'm happy that we got past that awful teenage years. Hanging out with my brothers over movies and food is my favorite way to unwind.
- Besides the US, I have been to Australia, Singapore, and Thailand (Krabi and Bangkok). If you count the 3-hour layover at Incheon International Airport, then I've been to South Korea, too.
- Here in the US, I have been to more places than all of my in-laws have, combined. Check out my Travel page if you haven't already!
- I have an affinity for office supplies, hoodies, and shoes (particularly, sneakers).
- I have not worn my natural hair color since 2009. Sometimes, I don't remember what my natural hair color looked like anymore (unless I look at past photos, of course).
- I am afraid of mascots and clowns. Even at 29, I still haven't overcome my childhood fears. Horror-themed parks give me anxiety.
- I don't eat peanut butter, and I don't like any other kinds of nuts, unless they're in the form of milk (i.e., almond milk). I also don't eat carrots, and chocolates aren't my favorite.
- Some of my achievements include winning the Editor's Choice Award from the International Library of Poetry and several awards in theater acting in high school. I have always excelled in literature and the arts.
- I am also musically inclined—I can carry a tune and play musical instruments such as piano, flute, and guitar. I hope to fit in a baby grand piano in my own home someday because it is an important part of my life.
- Dad enrolled me to a driving school, so I wouldn't have any reason to stay overnight at a classmate's house to finish school work in college. I never spent overnights at friends' houses nor went to out-of-town trips with them. My first time to experience these things? The night of our wedding and during our honeymoon.
- I am an INTJ.
- I write legibly, which I attribute to writing a lot of handwritten letters to my friends during the summer break in grade school.
- I find it difficult NOT to do something I already set my mind to.
