For friends who live in the US, how was your Thanksgiving weekend? Well, this American tradition caused quite a stir in the Philippines when some Filipinos took part in the celebration, too. I personally don't or didn't know about its history for obvious reasons, but when I wish people a "Happy Thanksgiving", I mean gratitude.

Anyway, now that the madness about Thanksgiving weekend has died down, I will let you in on a few things I'm grateful for this week:
That HR officer who helped in following up on my clearance and backpay. If you will remember, I resigned from work in August. Technically, my backpay and exit clearance should be ready after 45 business days. However, it took almost four months for these to be released due to a missing requirement. Although frustrating, he kept following this up with the involved parties for weeks until I received a call that all my documents were ready for pick-up. I claimed these on Monday, and it's been quite a relief that I got them done and over with.
That email notification from NVC, stating that they have received our IV package. Roan and I completed the visa application form and sent the corresponding packet to NVC several weeks ago. On Monday night, just as Roan was telling me to remind him to call NVC the following day, we received an email confirmation that our documents made it to their office. I know I've said this a hundred times on the blog, but these baby steps—though little—matter.
